Biography:

Different Eliasson, born April 3, 1947 in Borlänge in the central Swedish province of Dalarna, learned to play the trumpet as a child and established himself as a jazz bandleader. 1966–72: studies in Stockholm (harmony and counterpoint with Valdemar Söderholm, composition with Ingvar Lidholm and György Ligeti); 1970: first composition remaining in the catalog raisonné: In medias for solo violin; 1972–73: Committee Member, Electronic Music Studio Foundation; 1974: Christ Johnson Prize; November 1980: World premiere of Canto del vagabondo under Herbert Blomstedt; February 13, 1982: World premiere of Desert Point in Växjö; November 1984: World premiere of the Sinfonia da camera; February 1987: World premiere of the 1st symphony and Sotto il segno del sole; January 31, 1988: premiere of Ostácoli under Juha Kangas in Kokkola; November 16, 1989: World premiere of the 3rd symphony with John Edward Kelly (alto saxophone) in Trondheim; 1992: Nordic Council Music Prize for Symphony No. 1;
November 1996: Eliasson Festival at Stockholm's Konserthus; December 1998: First performance of the oratorio Dante Anarca in Stockholm; February 9, 2002: World premiere of the Sinfonia per archi under Juha Kangas in Kokkola; June 30, 2003: World premiere of the saxophone concerto with John-Edward Kelly and Juha Kangas in Vaasa; April 2006: World premiere of the concerto for violin, piano and orchestra; January 2007: World premiere of the 4th symphony at musica viva, Munich with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Christoph Poppen.
