Biography:
Christine Hoock works internationally as an inspiring double bass soloist and chamber musician. While she was still studying in Frankfurt and Geneva with Günter Klaus and Franco Petracchi, the Mainz native founded the »Frankfurt Double Bass Quartet«, which received worldwide recognition.
The versatile virtuoso Christine Hoock can be heard in the most diverse constellations of classical, world music and jazz. This is also reflected in their varied discography. Her artistic partners include Barbara Bonney, Alessandro Taverna, Lukas and Veronika Hagen, Quadro Nuevo, Enrico Bronzi and John Goldsby.
Christine Hoock is a guest among others at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Lucerne Festival, Festival de San Sebastián, the MusikTriennale Köln, Oficina de Música de Curitiba and at the Berlin and Salzburg Festivals. Concert tours take her around the world. The winner of international competitions was engaged early on as solo double bass player with the WDR Symphony Orchestra in Cologne.
Today, Christine Hoock is a professor for double bass at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. In addition to her busy concert schedule, she gives master classes at international academies and festivals and works as a juror at competitions worldwide. Christine Hoock plays an English instrument made by William Tarr in 1848.
