Biography:
Clemens Schuldt is chief conductor of the Munich Chamber Orchestra (MKO). His innovative interpretations of the classical and romantic repertoire and his creativity in incorporating unknown or modern pieces into concert programs have received widespread attention.
In Great Britain, Schuldt is a welcome guest and regularly conducts the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. He also conducted i.a. the DSO Berlin, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, the Orchester de la Suisse Romande, Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, Swedish Chamber Orchestra, Orchester Philharmonique de Strasbourg and the BBC Symphony Orchestra as well as the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, New Japan Philharmonic, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and the Hong Kong Sinfonietta.
Opera conducting also plays an important role in his work. In 2019 he made his debut at the Venice Biennale, performing George Benjamin's opera Written on Skin with the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai. In 2010 he won the renowned Donatella Flick Conducting Competition in London and was Assistant Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra for a year. Born in Bremen, he first studied violin and played with the Gürzenich Orchestra in Cologne and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. He then completed conducting studies in Düsseldorf, Vienna and Weimar.
