Biography:

Spanish composer and percussionist David moliner (*1991) is considered one of the most promising artists of his generation. He studied with Pascal Dusapin and Jörg Widmann at the Haute école de musique de Genève, at the Berlin University of the Arts and at the Barenboim-Said-Akademie in Berlin. His compositional aesthetics were soon recognized as pioneering new genres and new forms. His music combines the psychology of the body with the instruments it was written for, with all musical parameters being subordinate to this artistic conception. He has written orchestral works, chamber music, solo works and chamber music for the theatre. His music has been performed by ensembles such as Klangforum Wien, Ensemble intercontemporain and Ensemble Recherche, and at the Darmstadt Summer Courses and the Ensems Festival (Valencia), as well as in the Pierre Boulez Saal (Berlin), the Auditorio Nacional de Música (Madrid), and the Mozart Hall at the Zaragoza Auditorium and at the KKL Luzern.

David Moliner has won several awards as a percussionist and composer, including at the Italy Percussive Arts Society's vibraphone competition, the composition prize of the Berlin University of the Arts and a composition commission from the "Roche Young Commissions" as part of the Lucerne Festival.

David Moliner has performed in concert halls such as Philharmonie Berlin, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, KKL Luzern and Philharmonie de Paris with conductors such as Simon Rattle, Peter Eötvös and Matthias Pintscher; He has played with Jörg Widmann in the Konzerthaus Berlin and in the Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin. He has held workshops at the Musikene Centro Superior de Música del País Vasco in San Sebastián, the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Lyon, the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Munich and the USC Thornton School of Music in Los Angeles. His works are published by Universal Edition.
