Biography:

Diego Masson studied at the Conservatoire de Paris, was a drummer with Domaine Musicale and founded the ensemble Musique Vivante in 1966. After his success as music director of the Marseille Opera in the 1970s, Diego Masson began his international career as a conductor. He has conducted the BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Hallé Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, London Sinfonietta, Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Stuttgarter Kammerorchester, Orchester de Radio France, Orchester de la Suisse Romande, Stavanger Symphonieorchester, Avanti , Budapest Festival Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Residentie Orkest.

He appeared with the Ensemble Modern at the Berlin Music Biennale and conducted Greek by Mark Anthony Turnage at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. He has toured the UK with the London Sinfonietta and with the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, with whom he has also performed at the Aldeburgh Festival. With the Nash Ensemble he gave concerts a.o. at the Poulenc anniversary concert in London's Wigmore Hall, at performances of Luciano Berio's folk songs at the Barbican Center and the Symphony Hall in Birmingham, at Wien Modern, at WDR Cologne and at the BBC Promenade Concerts.
