Biography:

Doris Bertschinger, born and raised in the canton of Glarus (Switzerland), attended the training course to become an accordion teacher with Yolanda Schibli Zimmermann at the Winterthur Conservatory (today: Zurich University of the Arts) after graduating from high school. She then studied at the State University of Music in Trossingen in the class of Prof. Hugo Noth. Further studies took her to Florence, where she was taught by Ivano Battiston, and to numerous master classes, e.g. with Stefan Hussong, Ivan Koval, Joseph Macerollo and Egbert Spelde.

Doris Bertschinger performs both as a soloist and as a chamber music partner, with ensembles and orchestras or as a répétiteur in choirs. She is also involved in music theater productions, musicals and projects with contemporary and experimental music. Her repertoire includes original works for accordion and transcriptions of keyboard music from different eras.
