Biography:
Enno Poppe was born in 1969 in Hemer/Sauerland. He studied conducting and composition at the Berlin University of the Arts, e.g. with Friedrich Goldmann and Gösta Neuwirth; Studies in the field of sound synthesis and algorithmic composition at the TU Berlin and at the ZKM in Karlsruhe with H. K. Taube. Poppe, who also performs as a pianist and conductor, has directed the ensemble mosaik, Berlin, since 1998. From 2002 to 2004 he was a lecturer at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin. He received numerous prizes and grants, e.g. Boris Blacher Prize (1998), Busoni Prize (2002), Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation Prize (2004) and Schneider Schott Prize (2005). He has been a member of the Academy of Arts in Berlin since 2008.
