Biography:
The ensemble research makes music history. With around 600 world premieres since it was founded in 1985, the ensemble has played a key role in shaping the development of contemporary chamber and ensemble music. Impulses are given with concerts, musical theatre, courses for composers and instrumentalists, productions for hearing and seeing, with children's and youth sound projects, the "Klangpost" and the Ensemble Academy Freiburg, organized together with the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra. The nine-piece soloist ensemble determines international musical life with its own dramaturgical line.
The repertoire includes classics from the late 19th century, impressionists and expressionists, composers of the Second Vienna School and the Darmstadt School, spectralists and experimental avant-gardists of contemporary art.
The ensemble recherche has released around 50 CDs that have won several international prizes, e.g. with the annual prize of the German record critics and the Diapason d'Or.
