Biography:

The Swiss clarinetist Ernest Molinari was born in Lugano in 1956. He studied clarinet in Basel, bass clarinet in Amsterdam and is an outstanding and versatile soloist on every instrument in the clarinet family. Numerous compositions have been written especially for him, and his daring interpretations have inspired a new generation of clarinetists.

His active concert activities as a soloist and chamber musician have taken him to the most important festivals throughout Europe and around the world. In addition to interpreting classical, romantic and contemporary works, Ernesto Molinari deals with jazz and improvisation. From 1994 to 2005 he was a clarinetist in the solo ensemble of Klangforum Wien.

He is professor for clarinet and bass clarinet, chamber music, contemporary music and improvisation at the Bern University of the Arts. Since 2000 Molinari has been a lecturer at the International Summer Courses for New Music in Darmstadt. He also teaches at the impuls Academy in Graz.
