Biography:
FRANZ SCHINDLBECK, born in Mallersdorf in 1967, has been drumming since he was six years old. At the age of twelve he received regular drumming lessons and studied from 1983 to 1988 at the Trossingen Music Academy with Hermann Gschwendtner. Before he became a member of the Berlin Philharmonic, he gained his first orchestral experience from 1988 to 1992 as a solo percussionist in the orchestra of the National Theater Mannheim.
In addition to classical music, Franz Schindlbeck also loves jazz: while he was still a student he played in numerous bands and as a drummer in the Baden-Württemberg State Youth Big Band. In 1999 he founded the Berlin Philharmonic Jazz Group with colleagues from the Philharmonic. Since 1994 he has also been teaching at the Orchestra Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic.
