Jan Müller-Wieland is one of the most diverse and productive composers of our time. Born in Hamburg in 1966, the musician created 15 large-scale works for orchestra in addition to XNUMX stage works, but is also fond of chamber music. His works are performed internationally by the most renowned soloists and orchestras.
He was Composer in Residence at the Gstaad Menuhin Festival, the Beaux Arts Trio and the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra in Moscow. He has been honored with numerous prizes for his work, including the sponsorship prize for composers from the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, the Hindemith Prize from the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the sponsorship prize from the Hamburg Bach Prize and the main prize from the Lübeck Possehl Foundation. Jan Müller-Wieland has also received grants in France, Italy and America, including Cité Internationales des Arts Paris, Villa Massimo in Rome, the Tanglewood Music Center and the Leonard Bernstein Foundation Fellowship Program.
Müller-Wieland has held a professorship for composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich since 2007.
