Biography:
Jimmy Lopez, born in Lima (Peru) in 1978, studied with Enrique Iturriaga at the Conservatorio Nacional in Lima and with Veli-Matti Puumala and Eero Hämeeniemi at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. He has received numerous awards: Orchestra Prize of the CCA International Composition Competition (Taiwan, 2002); First Prize of the International Composition Competition ALEA III (USA, 2002); Orchestra Prize of the SävellYS Competition (Finland, 2006); University of California Nicola De Lorenzo Prize (Berkeley, 2008); Morton Gould Young Composer Award, ASCAP (New York, 2008); Kranichstein Music Prize (2008). Jimmy López is a founding member of the kohoBeat music association in Finland.
