Biography:

Joseph Anton Riedl, born 1927/29 (?) in Munich, studied with Carl Orff and Hermann Scherchen and received suggestions from Pierre Schaeffer. In 1950 he was a co-founder of the German section of the Jeunesses Musicales, which he also managed until 1960. In 1959 he initiated the founding of the Siemens Studio for Electronic Music/Munich, which he managed. Since 1960 he has organized the series of events NEUE MUSIK Munich (later Klang-Aktionen) and since 1970 traditional non-European music. From 1974 to 1982 he headed the KULTUR FORUM BONN, until 1987 the Days of New Music of the City of Bonn. With the MUSIK/FILM/DIA/LICHT gallery founded in 1967, he realized numerous multimedia compositions, audiovisual environments and events, concerts, exhibitions, projects for children, amateurs and the physically handicapped at national and international festivals. Since 1998 he has been programming and dramaturgically active for the Bavarian Radio concert series musica viva. Diverse work for instruments (including self-made ones), voices, concrete and electronic sounds, multimedia, installations, acoustic and optical sound poems.
