Biography:

Kasper de Roo studied conducting and bassoon at the Royal Conservatory in his hometown of The Hague and at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. He made his debut as a conductor at the invitation of Dennis Russel Davies at the Cabrillo Music Festival in 1979. The next year he was a prizewinner at the International Competition for Young Conductors in Besançon.
From 1984 to 92 he was Kapellmeister at the Stuttgart State Opera, from 1992 to 97 music director for the city of Innsbruck and head of the opera at the Tyrolean State Theatre, from 1994 to 98 chief conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland. Kasper de Roo works with numerous renowned orchestras and ensembles. As a conductor of contemporary music, he is a regular guest at many important European festivals.
