Biography:
The Greek-born composer and conductor Konstantia Gourzi studied piano, composition and conducting in Athens and Berlin. A special focus of her artistic work is the development of new performance concepts for modern music in the context of fine arts.
Konstantia Gourzis has conducted with orchestras such as: Danish Radio Sinfonietta, Israel Chamber Orchestra, Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra, Musica Nova Israel, National Opera Athens, RSO Frankfurt, RSO Stuttgart, Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, SWR Sinfonieorchester, Württemberg Chamber Orchestra, Young Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and Orchester Philharmonique de Strasbourg led and continue to lead them through Europe, the USA and Israel.
Her compositions for solo instruments and chamber music have been performed in Germany, France, Greece, Japan, America and Israel.
In 1991 she founded the ensemble "attacca berlin", and in 1999 she took over the artistic direction of the ensemble "echo" at the "Hanns Eisler" Academy of Music in Berlin. Since 2002 she has been a professor at the Munich University of Music and Theater and has been responsible for the development and artistic direction of the "ensemble oktopus" for modern music that she founded.
