Biography:
Ladislav Kubík, born in Prague in 1946, studied composition with Emil Hlobil and Jiří Pauer and postgraduate music theory with Karel Janeček and Karel Risinger, among others. His career as a composer developed in both Europe and the United States.
Many performances and CD recordings of his works as well as successes in composition competitions - from the International Composers' Tribune of UNESCO in Paris in 1974 to the Franz Kafka Composition Competition in Prague in 1993 - prove the effectiveness of Kubík's music.
Ladislav Kubík has been a professor of composition at Florida State University/USA since 1991.
