Biography:
The founding of Les Percussions de Strasbourg by six percussionists in 1962 has been the impetus for the creation of over 250 new works for the modern percussion repertoire to this day. Today's cast of the ensemble has developed over 15 years of shared experiences.
Les Percussions de Strasbourg build a bridge from music to related art forms: theatre, dance, video and cinema. By setting up artist residencies, Les Percussions de Strasbourg is able to accompany the artistic development process. Young composers are still particularly important to them for their artistic work.
For the development of new technologies, Les Percussions de Strasbourg have joined national centers of musical creativity and research such as the CIRM, the GMEM, the GRAME and the IRCAM.
