Biography:
Lucas Vis, born in 1947, began his career as a cellist before turning exclusively to conducting. He was chief of the Nederlands Ballet Orkest and later the Noordhollands Philharmonic Orchestra. By collaborating with composers like John Cage, Maurice Kagel and Karlheinz Stockhausen he advanced to become a specialist in new music.
