Biography:
Magnus Lindberg was born in Helsinki in 1958. He took piano lessons before entering the Sibelius Academy, where Einojuhani Rautavaara and Paavo Heininen were among his composition teachers. His breakthrough as a composer came with two large-format works, Action situation signification (1982) and kraft (1983–85), which are inseparable from the founding of the experimental Toimii Ensemble by Lindberg and Salonen.
