We mourn the loss of Peter Eötvös, who served us both as a composing conductor and as a conductor
the conducting composer has fascinated. After its beginnings in the wake of
Karlheinz Stockhausen, in the studio for electronic music, which has unfortunately been closed down today
of the WDR in Cologne, Pierre Boulez brought him in as musical director
founded Ensemble Intercontemporain. He succeeded thanks to his amazing technique
first a world career as a conductor, particularly of contemporary music
led him, among other things, to the Berlin Philharmonic. It remains amazing how he does it
Nevertheless, despite the countless conductors, he was able to establish himself as one of the leading ones
to enforce musical theater composers. His opera Tre Sestri
Chekhov now has more than a hundred performances (of which he belongs to me
recently reported happily) among the most played works of the
musical theater of the last decades. That's not the only way he got involved
inscribed in music history.
