Biography:
Conducted solo concerts and recitals Peter Bruns to the most renowned music centers on all continents, e.g. to the Berlin Philharmonie, New York's Carnegie Hall, London's Wigmore Hall, to Tokyo and Hong Kong, to the Semperoper Dresden, to the Leipzig Gewandhaus and to important festivals such as in Kuhmo and Bergen, to the Berlin and Dresden Music Festivals, to the Budapester Spring and Gidon Kremer's Lockenhaus Festival.
Peter Bruns is a soloist with many important orchestras (including on tours with the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, the RAI Symphony Orchestra, the MDR Symphony Orchestra and the Berlin Symphony Orchestra. He has worked with conductors such as Giuseppe Sinopoli, Herbert Blomstedt, Colin Davis, Eliahu Inbal and Thierry Fischer , Christoph Prick and Bruno Weil together.
The American magazine judged his recording of Bach's 6 cello suites Early Music Review: »This is one of the best recordings […] maybe even of the decade […] Among the […] performances of recent times it comes closest to Pablo Casal«. His numerous CDs have received many awards, e.g. with the Cannes Classical Award for »Best CD of the Year«. Peter Bruns plays a cello by Carlo Tononi Bolognese, Venice 1730, which formerly belonged to Pablo Casals.
