Biography:
Peter Sadlo, described by the press as the talent of the century, has been one of the undisputed stars of his guild since winning first prize at the renowned ARD International Music Competition in 1. After working as solo timpanist with the Munich Philharmonic under Sergiu Celibidache, Peter Sadlo has been teaching at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich since 1985.
At the age of 28 he was appointed professor at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. In 1997 he was awarded a doctorate in musicology by the University of Bucharest. In 1998 Peter Sadlo was awarded the "Echo Klassik" by the Deutsche Phono-Akademie as instrumentalist of the year; In 2003 the State Academy of Music in Sofia awarded him an honorary doctorate for his special services in the field of percussion; In 2005 he received the European Culture Prize from the cultural foundation »Pro Europa« in Amsterdam; In 2006, the Culture Prize of E.ON Bayern AG followed.
Peter Sadlo is artistic director of the »les muséiques« festival in Basel and artistic advisor to the international music meeting place »Haus Marteau«. He gives concerts as a soloist and chamber musician at the most renowned international concert stages and festivals.
