A guitar quartet is not exactly a string quartet as far as the available literature is concerned, although the sound potential of the acoustic guitar has traditionally been grossly underestimated. The Aleph guitar quartet has been successfully counteracting this situation for over 20 years. The latest release contains (almost) consistently exciting pieces by Nicolaus A. Huber, Alberto Hortigüela, Irene Galindo Quero and Mathias Spahlinger. They make clever and inventive use of the tonal and rhythmic qualities of the instrument.
