Borboudakis likes to deal with ancient mythology and philosophy as well as with modern science and technology. For Peter Sadlo he wrote a percussion concerto about “the primeval” (“Archégonon”), a string quartet about “the number four” (“Tetraktýs”) for the ensemble spectral and a sextet about “alloys” (“Krámata”). In the "Photonic constructions" he reasoned with Ensemble Modern on the wave-particle duality of light. And the Heraclitian image of the ever-changing river prompted him to undertake a long-term series of experiments, the most recent result of which are the “Meta-soundscapes”, “Other or Between-Landscapes”: an anniversary greeting for the ars nova ensemble Nuremberg and its founder Werner Heider.
