Borboudakis: I still see myself in a tradition of piano music without wanting to compare myself to Chopin or Schumann. For me personally, looking back at music history is very important, but I'm not looking for interpretational or compositional dogmas.
I need the piano very much as a composer - not to try something out, but as a stage, as a playing composer. My main concern is to find the right balance between dexterity in the sense of technical perfection and intellectual superstructure. In addition, I am enthusiastic about the athletic aspect of virtuosity.
"Katharsis", a confrontation of opposite worlds and strong conflicts, which is based on Dante's "Divine Comedy" - also on the tonal gestures of Franz Liszt: clearly audible in the pounding E flat major final chords, draws a link to tradition in the broadest sense. The electronic pieces are less reflective of the piano pieces, although memories cannot be avoided. But with the computer I can realize more possibilities - that was the attraction for me to record sounds, let them explode at any speed and finally drive them to extremes.
