What Phil Minton can produce with his voice alone - those "crazy and eerie sounds that have no equal far and wide" (Bert Noglik) - seems beyond the realm of possibility. He is the undisputed singing giant of the jazz avant-garde.
With the ICI Ensemble he encounters a collective of like-minded people. For almost 20 years, some of the most experimental instrumentalists and sound artists of the German improvisation scene have been forming an unmistakable sound cosmos that has already inspired numerous international composers and improvisers to work together.
Phil Minton and the musicians of the ICI Ensemble weave a delicate web of chamber music here, seeming to whisper words from the late Beckett: “Say Yes.” – until one puts it into perspective: “Till No.” And then nothing is as it was.
