In April 2018, Dr. Jürgen Schaarwaechter up classical.com: “In the present case, the cross-pollination of instrumental and vocal sounds leads to interesting new discoveries. (...) In the four works at hand (one of them in two different emanations), Wohlhauser is on the trail of the possibilities of the sound of the human voice and other sound generators. There is hissing, whispering, humming, flageoletting, various percussion instruments are used, voices and sounds grow together to form a tonal overall picture. (...) Despite the different starting points, the vocal parts are also understood here as an extended tonal aspect of the instrumental - an idea that of course has a very long tradition. The possibilities of microtonalities and metrics are explored in equal measure, yet there is something incredibly spontaneous and lively about the music.”
