WORKS FOR CLARINET AND ACCORDION Uros Rojko VOX for clarinet and accordion »seeks« contact with the most intimate inside of the human being. The utter reduction of the material to the source alone, to the fundamental and its spectrum, is the necessary condition for awakening the right vibrations. The dialogue between the human voice and its reverberation in the acoustic tube of the instrument (the clarinet), the establishment of sensitive communication with the accordion, the use of only a few specific sound effects, playing techniques and fingerings - all this also applies to the moments of improvisation - try to raise awareness the listener into the state of greatest possible inner concentration. The composition was created in 2001 as a commission from the city of Digne-les-Bains (France), where it was premiered a year later by the prominent Swiss accordionist, composer and architect Prof. Hugo Noth, one of the founders of modern accordion playing, and the composer. The occasion was the farewell concert of two professors at the Trossingen University of Music: Hugo Noth, the respected pioneer and founder of modern accordion playing, and his colleague, Professor of Horn. When the latter canceled at short notice, the performance had to be cancelled. At the request of Hugo Noth, to whom the work was dedicated, I adapted it for clarinet and accordion. We played the premiere at his ceremonial farewell to retirement. The predominantly microtonal composition reflects some aspects of the perception of states and processes in our existence, qualities such as patience, perseverance, acceptance and forbearance. Luke Juhart Unleashed is dedicated to my friend Uroš Rojko and was premiered by Uroš and me in Trieste in 2015. The composition, although I wrote it as an independent work, can also be used as the second movement to Rojkos VOX be used. At the prestigious International Rostrum of Composers 2018 Unleashed included in the list of »recommended works«. Iris ter Schiphorst In my youth I was a big Schumann fan. works like Carnival, Kreislerian or Butterflies were (and are!) among my favorite pieces. Among other things, I was fascinated by their form, these short expressive pieces lined up one after the other, which nevertheless belong together. The Miniatures for clarinet and accordion are inspired by this "old love"... Miniatures for clarinet and accordion owe their existence to a composition commissioned by the Klangwerkstatt Kreuzberg (Berlin) and were originally written for the duo Nancy Laufer and Jürgen Kupke.
