Rudiger Bohn

Conductor & Piano

Biography:

Rüdiger Bohn, who was born in Lübeck, received his artistic training at the music academies in Cologne and Düsseldorf with Günter Ludwig and David Levine in piano and with Volker Wangenheim in conducting.

He won several international chamber music competitions (including in Florence and Bordeaux) and performed regularly as a concert soloist before devoting himself almost exclusively to conducting after master classes with Bernstein, Celibidache and Gardiner.

After the founding of the Contemporary Opera Berlin in 1997, which he took over as musical director, dealing with contemporary music became a focus of his work.
