Biography:

The German-Greek mezzo-soprano Stella Doufexis studied at the Berlin University of the Arts with Ingrid Figur and continues to work regularly with Anna Reynolds. Song interpretation classes with Aribert Reimann and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau round off her education.

Numerous guest engagements have taken her to the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, the German State Opera in Berlin, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, the Scottish Opera (Oktavian), the Gran Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona and the Salzburg Festival. Stella Doufexis has been a permanent member of the ensemble at the Komische Oper Berlin since autumn 2004.

As a renowned lieder singer, Stella Doufexis has sung at the festivals in Lucerne and Berlin, the Schubertiade Hohenems, the Ruhr Piano Festival, the Aldeburgh Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and the Jerusalem Chamber Music Festival.

Stella Doufexis works with all the important radio orchestras in Germany, the Berlin Philharmonic, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Ensemble Intercontemporain, the Orchester de Paris, the London Symphony Orchestra and the Bach Academy Stuttgart. Among the well-known conductors with whom the singer has already worked, Bernard Haitink, Semyon Bychkov, Kent Nagano, Kurt Masur, Roger Norrington, Christopher Hogwood, Carl St Clair, Helmuth Rilling, Ivor Bolton, Andrew Davis, Leonard Slatkin, Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Christoph Eschenbach, and Zubin Mehta.
