Biography:

The cellist Tanya Tetzlaff has a wide-ranging repertoire that includes standard works of solo and chamber music as well as numerous contemporary compositions. Tanja Tetzlaff studied at the Hamburg University of Music with Professor Bernhard Gmelin and at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg with Professor Heinrich Schiff.

After successfully participating in many international competitions, she played with numerous renowned orchestras, e.g. Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Royal Flanders Orchestra, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Camerata Salzburg, Queensland Symphony Orchestra, West Australian Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta Nacional de España, Orchester Philharmonique de Radio France. She has worked with well-known conductors such as Lorin Maazel, Daniel Harding, Sir Roger Norrington, Philippe Herreweghe, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Dimtri Kitajenko and Paavo Järvi. Chamber music is her special love.

She is a regular guest at renowned festivals and plays together, e.g. with Lars Vogt, Alexander Lonquich, Antje Weithaas, Martin Fröst, Leif Ove Andsnes, Florian Donderer, Gunilla Süssmann and her brother Christian Tetzlaff, with whom she founded the Tetzlaff Quartet, which also includes Elisabeth Kufferath and Hanna Weinmeister. She regularly gives guest performances in quartets or trios (with Christian Tetzlaff and Lars Vogt or Leiv Ove Andsnes) throughout Europe and the USA.

In addition to the concerts of classical cello literature, Tanja Tetzlaff can often be heard in concerts with works from the 20th century as well as with contemporary literature. With her duo partner, the pianist Gunilla Süssmann, Tanja Tetzlaff regularly gives guest performances throughout Germany, Scandinavia and Switzerland. A fruitful musical collaboration has recently developed with Baiba and Lauma Skride.
