Biography:

The Bern pianist Thomas Gerber studied at the Bern Conservatory with Tomasz Herbut and at Yale University with Peter Frankl. His other mentors included: Claude Frank, Boris Berman, Arie Vardi, Paul Badura-Skoda, Béla Síki, Bruno Canino, Jörg Ewald Dähler and the Tokyo String Quartet. He has won prizes at numerous Swiss music competitions, and in 1999 he was awarded a year of work by the Dienemann Foundation in Lucerne.

Thomas Gerber gives concerts regularly as a soloist, chamber musician and accompanist, e.g. with the Bern Symphony Orchestra, Orchester de Chambre Romand de Berne, Orchester Divertimento Bern and with partners such as Rachel Kolly d'Alba, Matthias Schranz, Thomas Füri, Thomas & Patrick Demenga and with members of the American Enso Quartet.

With his long-standing duo partner Matthias Schranz (cello), Thomas Gerber has been running the interdisciplinary chamber music series "Dachstock Concerts" in Bolligen since 2015, which combines classical music with other artistic disciplines. The concert series, which features top-class artists, received the Botti Prize (culture prize) from the municipality of Bolligen in 2019.
